This year's conference will be held in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. Since Santa Barbara is a small city, it will be important to schedule your travel plans and hotel as early as possible. Once here, renting a car will provide you with the best possible opportunity to both attend the conference and visit the local sites and the surrounding area.

Room rates are as follows:

  • Single/Double Occupancy - 1 King: $119 (Sun-Thurs) $159 (Fri-Sat)
  • Double Occupancy - 2 Queens: $125 (Sun-Thurs) $165 (Fri-Sat)
Reservations must be made by September 6, 2002 in order to guarantee the confernce rate. Please reference block code UCSBMMNS when making reservations. To take advantage of this discount, please call the hotel directly at (800) 643-1994. You cannot use the normal Raddison toll-free number; they will not be aware of the UCSBMMNS room block.

Air Travel
Santa Barbara is serviced by a single airport, the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. Most flights connect through either Los Angeles or San Francisco. The following airlines have flights to SBA:

Alternatively, you can choose to fly directly into LAX and take the air bus to Santa Barbara. The bus makes 14 trips a day, is considerably cheaper than a flight, and provides a glorious view of the California coastline.

Ground Transportation
Rental cars can be picked up at the airport through the following companies:

A number of taxi companies and a shuttle van are also available (see the airport web page for phone numbers). Finally, public buses make stops at the airport every half hour from 6:30am to 11:30pm (10:00pm on Saturdays and 9:00pm on Sundays).
